​A business plan allows you to understand your market, customer and how you can best serve them, sometimes your idea will change, but this is what your plan is for. Once complete, it will give you a strategy to execute your idea.

Many would argue that you do not need a business plan to start and run a business and frankly many people have businesses without one BUT most not hugely successful entrepreneurs. For example, would you get in your car and drive, knowing where you want to go but not knowing the direction? Hopefully not, otherwise you may end up in Scotland rather than Plymouth.
